Lighting Supervision and Production Electrician Work

Below are some examples of the more intense lighting designs that I’ve supervised and engineered.

 The normal heart

Lighting by: Jake Mosier

Scenic by: Bo Burkhardt

The Normal Heart was staged in an intimate 100 seat 2/4 thrust. The lighting design involved 55 individual light boxes, as seen above, and an additional 60’ of LED pixel tape on the triangular stage. The LED pixel tape required over 1500’ of cable and just shy of 5 universes of Artnet control. There was also a flyable triangle of fluorescent lights. Lastly, there were around 100 conventionals and moving lights in the air.

The bottom right thumbnail opens a video of one of the checkout cues (not in the show) that I built.

SPRING AWAKENING

Lighting by: Laurel Ladzinski

Scenic by: Lukas White

While largely a traditional rock rig in a 3/4 thrust, Spring Awakening featured a practical newspaper chandelier. Each chandelier arm had 22 pixels of control and a total of 110 LED pucks that were individually controllable. I tought a soldering workshop and the installation and soldering work was completed entirely by 9 undergraduate students within a week.
